There has been a choir at St. Alban’s Church for over 120 years, since the chancel was built on to make room for a choir and organ. Originally an all male choir, the choir today is a mixed voice robed choir including ladies, men, boys and girls singing SATB. We are a Royal School of Church Music Affiliated Choir, and have a number of Dean’s and Bishop’s Choristers amongst us. 2017 is our 40th year of affiliation to the RSCM, and special events are planned to commemorate this – further information here.
We would welcome anyone who might be interested in joining us. Juniors usually join around 7-8 years of age, when they can read sufficiently well.
The commitment is attendance at Choir Rehearsal on Fridays – Juniors 6.45-7.15 pm, Full Choir -7.15 – 8.30 pm, and singing at one, sometimes two, services on Sundays, 10.30am and/or 6.00pm.
