Men’s Fellowship (SAM)

St Alban’s Men’s Fellowship (SAM) was started over 20 years ago, as a forum where men could meet in an informal and friendly atmosphere for fellowship and fun.
Open to all men, membership is not restricted to regular churchgoers, though we usually open and close our meetings with prayer.
Meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday in the month, at 7.30pm in the Barn, though for special events and visits, the time may vary. We have a mixture of activities, including visiting speakers and visits out.
Talks in 2016 included ‘The History of Westgate’, the ‘Steel and WWI’ and ‘Signs, Symbols and Secrets’ from old friend Pat McLaughlin. We have had talks from the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Wayne Ashton, from Wickersley Methodist Church. We combined a visit to the National Coal Mining Museum with a talk from them on miner’s safety lamps. Visits also included Ashworth Barracks, the Victoria Cross Museum in Doncaster.
As well as an annual dinner – usually in February – we invite members of SALS and other friends to join us for some of our events.
All men would be most welcome to join our fellowship.
