SAFE CHURCH STATEMENT

  As members of the Church of England we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God’s purpose for everyone. We seek to safeguard all members of the church community, of all ages.  It is the responsibility of each one of us to protect people from physical, emotional, sexual, financial, institutional and spiritual abuse, and from neglect, grooming, traffiking and modern slavery.

Safe Church Policy

Parish Policy Statement on Safeguarding in the Church

The Parochial Church Council reviews this policy annually, most recently on 20th June 2019.

This policy will be reviewed each year to monitor progress achieved.

  1. As members of this parish we commit ourselves to respectful pastoral care for all people to whom we minister.
  1. We commit ourselves to the safeguarding of children, ensuring their well-being in the life of this church in an environment free from abuse.
  1. We commit ourselves to promoting safe practice by those in positions of trust.
  1. The parish commits itself to promoting the equality and inclusion of all children.
  1. It is the responsibility of every member of St Alban’s to prevent the physical, emotional, sexual, financial and spiritual abuse of people and neglect, and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect.
  1. We undertake to exercise proper care in the appointment and selection of those who will work with people including the application of the Disclosure and Barring process.
  1. The parish is committed to supporting, resourcing, training and regularly reviewing those who undertake work with children.
  1. The parish adopts the guidelines of the Church of England and the Diocese.
  1. Each person who works with people will agree to abide by these recommendations and the guidelines established by this church.
  1. A Safeguarding Officer will be appointed to oversee the church’s Safeguarding Policy and represent the concerns and views of people at our meetings and to outside bodies.
