Following the most recent Government announcements, many of the restrictions applying to services of worship during the pandemic may now cease. Conduct of services going forward is now as follows.
There is no longer a requirement to maintain social distancing, and all pews are now available for use; there are no longer any restrictions on numbers for any service. However it is understood that some may still be cautious about close contact, and this will be respected. There is no requirement to shake hands during the Peace.
Wearing of face masks is no longer required, but it is accepted that some may continue to do so.
Congregational singing will recommence.
Both bread and wine will be administered during communion, but it is accepted that some may prefer to take only the bread. The Diocese have decided that self-intinction should not be permitted.
The pattern of services at St.Alban’s from will be as follows.
There will be three Sunday services, as follows:
9.15am: Choral Holy Communion
10.45am: All Age Worship
6.00pm: Evening Service, communion 2nd & 4th Sunday of month
10.00am: Holy Communion (said)
Attendance for school admission will be recorded.
Some services will continue to be live streamed from the church and subsequently available on YouTube. St.Albans YouTube services can be found here:
The Thursday morning communion service will be a BCP Holy Communion service. Both bread and wine will be administered.
Christenings, Weddings and Funerals
All Covid-related restrictions on numbers at christenings, weddings and funerals have now been removed.
Families who have been unable to hold a funeral during the lockdown may like to consider holding a Memorial/Thanksgiving service once the current restrictions are over.
